Description of my idea
In February 2024, I decided to create a design project in Illustrator based on one of my favorite sports, basketball. Inspired by a video about NBA team designs, I chose to create my own fictional teams. I selected ten cities across Canada and the United States, avoiding those that already have teams. The team names are based on notable facts related to each city.
Publication date
I finished this project on April 15, 2024. I began sketching the team on February 26, 2024.
Please note: I completed all the projects at the same time because I worked on each team one after another, ultimately reviewing all of them at once.
Duration of the project
This project took about two months to complete. It took me a lot of time to sketch each part of the team, but I started by drawing the team logo first, which allowed me to finish the team drawing first.
Role(s) in the project
This project was done entirely by me, so I had to handle all the tasks. Some aspects focus on artistic direction, including visual creation. I made all the sketches for each basketball team in a sketchbook. Additionally, I conducted research to invent the name for each team. Then, I gathered information about popular cities in Canada and the United States that don’t have a basketball team. I designed everything in a sketchbook first, and then I designed each element for the team in Illustrator.
Software used
I used Illustrator for creating each team. For the sketches of each team, I used a sketchbook to draw the jerseys, the basketball court, and the logo.
